In an interview with CBS Gayle King This Morning, Tim Cook spoke about an upcoming announcement. According to the CEO, we should expect something from Apple on Wednesday, January 13th (tomorrow).
What exactly is going to be revealed is not clear at this moment, but the timing is definitely not incorrect. Besides the start of CES 2021, competitor Samsung is coming up with an Unpacked event this Thursday.
Tim Cook’s hints at Wednesday’s announcement
The interview aired this morning is just a small part of the discussion between Gayle King and Tim Cook. It’s not known exactly what the conversation is about, but King lets it be known that Tim Cook is coming up with a big announcement about the company. It was later revealed that the conversation, which will air tomorrow, had been recorded earlier. Today’s piece was additional and completely based on the storming of the US Capitol last week. Tim Cook said the following about that:
“I think it’s key that people be held accountable for it. This is not something that should skate. This is something that we’ve got to be very serious about and understand. And then we need to move forward.”
As mentioned earlier, we have no idea what Apple is going to reveal tomorrow. It’s not a product, then, according to Gayle King, but it’s “something bigger and something better.”
Is Apple stealing the show?
Tim Cook’s announcement comes as a surprise, but the timing is definitely not nuts. Almost all technology companies are currently exhibiting their new products and technologies at CES 2021. In addition, Samsung’s Unpacked event is scheduled for this week, Thursday, January 14. It’s not official yet, but it’s almost inevitable that the Samsung Galaxy S21 will see the light of day. So the question is whether Apple manages to snatch the show from the announcement.
